What is EUDR and how does it impact the packaging industry?
EUDR (European Union Deforestation Regulation) is the common term for Regulation (EU) 2023/1115 of the European Parliament and the Council of May 31, 2023, concerning the placing on the EU market and the export from the EU of certain goods and products associated with deforestation and forest degradation, and repealing Regulation (EU) No 995/2010.
The goal of this new regulation is to limit the trade of specific goods whose production is linked to deforestation and forest degradation. The regulation also aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and biodiversity loss while promoting the consumption of deforestation-free products and minimizing the EU’s impact on global deforestation and forest degradation.
The EUDR Information System has already been launched. This is a registry of Due Diligence Statements and a specialized online tool that facilitates the creation of due diligence statements in supply chains. The registry enables operators, traders, and their representatives to electronically submit Due Diligence Statements to the relevant authorities to demonstrate that their products do not contribute to deforestation, in accordance with the regulation.
Every entity in the supply chain will be required to ensure that the products introduced to the market comply with Regulation (EU) 2023/1115 (EUDR) and that the related product information is stored for five years, allowing verification of due diligence and risk assessment.

The EUDR regulations have been postponed for a year and will come into effect on December 30, 2025. Preston is already taking appropriate steps to prepare for compliance with Regulation (EU) 2023/1115 (EUDR).
We aim to be fully prepared to operate in line with the new regulations, ensuring compliance for our partners and minimizing the risk of violating environmental standards. Partnering with Preston guarantees a responsible approach to environmental protection and sustainable development.
